We started Canopy because we believe small businesses deserve the same caliber of IT leadership that large enterprises get — without the enterprise price tag or the red tape.
Why Canopy exists
Too many small businesses get stuck with IT support that treats them like a ticket number. The big providers are stretched thin, the one-person shops can't keep up, and nobody seems to understand the compliance requirements that regulated industries actually face.
Canopy was built to fill that gap. We're a focused team of senior IT professionals who work directly with our clients — no layers of junior techs, no scripts, no runaround. When you call us, you get someone who understands your business and your industry.
We're based in Allen, Texas, and we work primarily with healthcare practices, financial firms, and professional services companies across the DFW metroplex. Our approach is simple: be genuinely good at what we do, be responsive, and actually care about the outcome.

Richard Roberts
President
Richard has spent 25+ years leading IT operations for healthcare organizations, including roles as COO and interim CISO. He's led teams through acquisitions, built compliance programs from scratch, and transformed how organizations use technology.
He started Canopy because he saw too many small businesses getting generic, disengaged IT support — the kind where you're just another ticket number. Canopy is the opposite of that: a small team of senior professionals who actually care about the businesses they support.
When he's not working, Richard is probably reading science fiction (Neal Stephenson is a favorite), tinkering with a 3D printer, or building something with AI that probably shouldn't be built.

Joshua graduated from UT Dallas with a degree in Computer Science and brings fresh technical expertise to the Canopy team. He works part-time supporting our managed services clients and contributing to automation projects.
